Growing in His Word, Serving in His World, Joining in His Mission
February 26, 2010
Peek at our Week: Jesus Time: This week we focused on how we can serve others with God’s help. Literacy: this week we worked on rhyming words and listening to the final sounds in words. The children reviewed upper and lower case letters. (This is an important skills as we learn about sentence structure-always begin your sentence with an uppercase letter.) We worked with two new letters/sounds /w/ & /x/ and blended the vowel /o/. We added more core words. The new core words came home with your child in their reading folder. Please continue to review these words at home. We looked at pictures in a story to help us make predictions before we read the story. We are working on comprehension skills when we take our Accelerated Reading tests. The children continued to work in their individual reading groups with decodable readers. We worked in our Writing Book and we focused on beginning our sentences with uppercase letters and ending each sentence with a period. Math: this week we worked with calendars, ordering events, time and began a unit dealing with money. Discovery: we began a new unit about objects. We learned about properties of objects and how to sort objects using sorting rules. Other: in P.E. we are working on jump rope skills. We practiced for our chapel service.
Memory Work: We love because God first loved us. 1 John 4:19
