Rejoice with the Lord in Kindergarten
January 27, 2012
Our week:
Jesus time: this week we focused on Jesus welcoming all children to Himself, offering them forgiveness, love and blessings.
Literacy: this week we worked on number of sounds in a word, matched pictures with letters in the alphabet, matched initial sounds in words, worked with two new letters: /b/, and /k/. During story time we worked with two new popcorn words. We also looked at characters in a story, was the story real or pretend and we made prediction about a story.
Math: this week we worked on learning about money.
Discovery: we are working on shadows and how the sun/light makes shadows.
Technology: we worked with our letters on the smart board and we do our math lesson too.
Other: on Thursday we were invited guests of the Seniors at Trinity, to their special party. We enjoyed a Valentine’s Day party with a circus theme. The time was enjoyed by all. On Friday we celebrated our 100th day of school. We also celebrated Groundhog’s Day. We are working on learning our chapel and learning songs for the Spring Musical.
Book of the Week: "Who Will See Their Shadow?"
Letters: /m/, /s/, /r/, /t/, /c/, /d/, /n/, /a/, /g/, /f/ /i/, /l/, /h/, /b/, /k/-review sounds and letter formation of these letters.
Popcorn Words: are words the students need to be able to read quickly without sounding the words out. Please review these words at home with your child each week. Under a separate attachment, you will find flash cards to print and cut apart for your child to practice reading. They need to read the word immediately upon seeing the word. The children will be assessed the words that are printed below.
