Fighting Over What Matters
A Price For The Priceless
Sheep Ears (John 10:22-30)
Christians are often described as sheep, but is that really a good thing? When it comes to surviving in a hostile world, sheep do not have much going for them. But sheep do have what they need most - ears to hear the voice of their shepherd!
What Really Matters
Ever tempted to cheat on a test? Why? Did the grade really matter that much? Was it really more important than your integrity? Or were you tempted, simply because whenever we can measure something with a number it seems more important than it really is? But sometimes what counts most, can't be counted at all.
Perfect Endings (1 Corinthians 15:20-28)
The ending of a story affects the whole rest of the story. A good ending makes the whole story better. A bad ending ruins the whole story. So what effect does Jesus' resurrection have on the rest of Jesus' story? And what effect does Jesus' resurrection have on the rest of your story?
Temple Court (Luke 20:9-19)
Humans are good at taking things for granted. As soon as it is in my hands, a generous gift becomes mine, as if it were my right. But that is a dangerous tendency, especially when it affects the way we view God's greatest gifts to us.
Empty House (Luke 13:31-35)
What do you expect from God? Jesus did not deliver what many of the Israelites of His day expected. He upset their comfortable, stable, ordered religious lives. God's work through Jesus was unexpected and unpredictable, and never more so than when He died. Are we still prepared to follow our unpredictable God?
Why?
How often do you ask God, "Why?" In a world filled with sadness, Christians often find themselves asking and answering the question, "Why God?" And while there are no easy answers to that question, we always remember that God cares about His people and has a purpose for our struggles.
Glory (John 2:1-11)
When Jesus turned water to wine, John tells us that he revealed his glory. And that means much more than that Jesus performed a miracle. Jesus' glory is revealed not just in power, but in love. And we, too, have seen that glory!
