Train Up Workshop
By Rick Adams - Thursday, October 09, 2008 :: 317 Views ::
At your child’s Baptism, solemn promises were made. As Christian parents, you agreed to “provide for your child’s instruction in the Christian faith.” Hopefully, from the day you brought your child home, you have been seeking and taking opportunities to nurture and cultivate the seed of faith that was planted into the heart of your child by the power of the Holy Spirit in Holy Baptism. By teaching your child to pray, by reading Bible stories, and by listening to and singing songs about Jesus and the Bible with your child, you can begin the process of Christian education in your son or daughter, even at this early stage, a process that has no endpoint in this life.

Other promises were made at your child’s baptism, too. The congregation of Trinity promised you that you would be supported and encouraged in this life-long process of Christian education. Trinity promised to provide you with everything you need to make this God-given responsibility a reality in your family. Even if your child was baptized elsewhere, Trinity now stands firmly with you as you raise this child in Christ.
At this presentation, you can:
  • learn about ways in which you can make your home a faith-enriching haven for yourself and your children;
  • learn about developmental characteristics of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds and how this relates to faith;
  • consider marriage enrichment ideas that will keep the husband-wife relationship strong while learning this whole “parenting” thing;
  • fellowship with other Trinity families with young children for a casual morning together.
As a way of supporting and encouraging you as parents in the awesome task of raising your children in Christ, Trinity’s Historical Society has underwritten the cost of providing each family with a special hardcover book entitled My Bible Story Book. This will be presented to each family represented at our get-together.

Please consider joining us for what we’re sure will be an enjoyable morning of fun, fellowship, and an opportunity to grow as Christian parents in our understanding of what God is calling us to be for our children.

Please feel free to invite grandparents, God-parents, and other parents of young children to attend with you. If you know of any couple that could benefit from the information that will be shared, please encourage them to attend, or provide us with their contact information, and we will follow up on that. It’s our desire to radiate the love of Jesus!
