How often do you ask God, "Why?" In a world filled with sadness, Christians often find themselves asking and answering the question, "Why God?" And while there are no easy answers to that question, we always remember that God cares about His people and has a purpose for our struggles.

I am the brother of Gary and brother-in-law of Marianne Menzel. I live in Lynchburg, VA and was fortunate enough to have Marianne e-mail my wife and I about this web site. Pastor Lehenbauer, there is no way you could ever know how perfect the timing of this sermon is for us. Sadly, on 30 January, the day before you gave this sermon, my wife lost her mother after almost 22 hours of surgery to repair her heart. Why comes to mind often but we really do understand. We do not have the ministry here that I have been looking for but after hearing this sermon (3 times now), and knowing that we can access sermons each week, I feel we have found a home although it be from a distance. Yours in Christ, Tom and Dale Menzel

Do you have a mental picture of the wise men coming to visit Jesus? Most of us do... and most of us also have the wrong picture. Is it possible that our mental picture is actually getting in the way of understanding the magi - and so understanding ourselves and our God?

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible, and it is a love song to God's Word. The author of these 176 verses has a passion for God's words of promise, instruction, and correction that is amazing to see. How can we capture that same passion? Or is the better question, how does that passion capture us?

The New Year brings with it all kinds of expectations. We expect change, a good year, to be blessed by our God. And at the end of every worship service we receive the blessing of the Lord, "The Lord bless you and keep you..." But what does it mean to be blessed by God? What does it mean to be blessed with the name of God?
